The two weeks either side of the first hard freeze are the busiest of our year — batteries, coolant and winter tires all fail in the same fortnight, and everyone discovers it on the same cold Monday morning. If you want winter tires fitted in November, book in October. The same applies to air conditioning in June: the first ninety-degree day fills the diary for a fortnight.
